Kenya is in group 'B' of the third round of the World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations

Kenya is in group 'B' of the third round of the World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tournament which kicks off early next year.
The group has top African Nations Nigeria, Tunisia and Mozambique. Kenya qualified to this round after finishing runners-up in their pool during the first round of qualifiers.
Kenya made sure of making it to the third round as as early as in September when they beat Namibia 1-0 at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani.

With that win Kenya had seven points which was enough to push them into third and crucial round of the qualifiers.
Even a 3-2 loss to Guinea in their last match was not enough to lock Kenya out. The trip to Cornakry came with many challenges as the team was stranded in the Guinean Capital for almost five days after playing their match.
The team could not get their flight back home after Guinean authorities misled them to the wrong gate for boarding their plane.
However, Stars will not have to worry about a similar thing happening to them considering that there are direct flights to all the countries they will play in as they seek to qualify for the World Cup in 2010.
Harambee Stars  will open their campaign at home against Tunisia, a team against which Harambee Stars have a good home record.
Even though Tunisia beat Kenya 2-0 in their last match in Nairobi it was under unusual circumstances. Harambee Stars had been knocked out of the running for the 2006 World Cup and Nations Cup finals and were, to say the least, unmotivated about the "dead rubber".
The match was also played in an empty [Moi International Sports Centre] stadium after home fans were banned following a Nyayo National Stadium stampede where a spectator died in an earlier match against Morocco.
Previously, Kenya had not lost a match against Tunisia in Nairobi. After Harambee Stars host Tunisia on March 28, they travel to Nigeria in June 6, then welcome Mozambique to Nairobi on June 20. And even very crucial is the fact that, depending on how they will have fared that far, Kenya will be playing at home on the final day -- against Nigeria on November 14.
Playing at home in both the opening and final fixture would also make the Kenyans believe that things could not have gone any better in the Zurich draw.
